Convert PNG to JPG Free (Smaller Files, No Upload)
10/15/2026 • images, how-to, convert, jpg
PNGs are big. When you don't need lossless quality or transparency — sharing a screenshot, emailing a photo, posting an image — JPG gives you a much smaller file for the same picture.
Use the free tool: Image Batch Converter — up to 10 images per batch, processed in your browser.
Steps
-
Open the Image Batch tool.
-
Add your PNG images — up to 10 per batch on the free version.
-
In the Format selector, choose JPG.
-
Convert and download the JPG files.
Lossy and no transparency — know before you convert
JPG is lossy by nature: some detail is discarded in exchange for a smaller file. At a high quality setting the loss is barely visible; at a low setting you'll see blocky artifacts. Transparency is lost entirely — transparent areas get flattened, so check the result if your image relies on it. Keep the original PNG until you've looked at the JPG. And if the JPG is still too big after converting, compress it next — conversion and compression stack.
Troubleshooting
- Transparent areas look wrong? Expected — JPG can't store transparency. Keep the PNG if you need it.
- Blocky or blurry result? The quality setting was too low — convert again at higher quality.
- File barely shrank? Flat graphics and screenshots with sharp edges compress less well in JPG; that's normal.

Frequently asked questions
Is converting PNG to JPG free?
Yes — free, up to 10 images per batch, with no account or sign-up required.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Images are processed in your browser and re-encoded locally. Nothing is uploaded.
What happens to transparency?
JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are flattened. Check the result in your PNG relies on transparency.
Will the JPG be smaller?
Usually, yes — JPG's lossy compression shrinks photos and screenshots substantially. How much depends on the image and the quality setting.
